Stainless steel or granite kitchen sink

As long as youre aware that buying plastic sinks is a nono, it comes down to personal taste.
We were looking at a granite option for our new kitchen but dumped that idea when we dumped the granite worktop idea! (its all about the cost)
We settled for a good quality Franke stainless steel sink that didnt cost a fortune and are completely happy with it.

Absolutely, or those awful Asterite sinks with the textured finish that are hell to clean.
SS sinks are supposed to be quite anti-bacterial (apparently the metal ions kill off the bugs), so even though they scratch, the scratches aren't unhygienic.0 -
It all depends, where you are buying your sink,
You can buy a granite sink for between £250 and £400
a good quality stainless steel will cost you just as much..!I had a plan..........its here somewhere.0 -

We are replacing the kitchen and have had an Asterite sink for 18 years in a beige colour.
When it is clean it looks practically as good as new. All sinks need cleaning and don't look good with a build up of tea stains etc.
Before the asterite I had stainless steel and my hubby constantly reminds me how I said `never again`. The reason being they look great new but soon get scratched and every water mark shows.
I have now decided on past experience to get another Asterite sink although the black ones look nice I cannot imagine how they look in use.0 -
We bought one of these last year...cost about £250-300 these days. I love it..it always cleans up dead easy and no scrtaches yet.
It's a Franke 'fragranite' sink...ours is set in a black worktop.

How do you clean it? I do use bleach on mine (bearing in mind it is beige) do use bleach?0 -
One of the posts above says that their black sink always looks dirty and Bungarm's is easy to clean (assuming theirs is black also).
Which is correct?
I've just put in an order for a blanco siligranite corner sink in black (anthracite) and am now a bit worried about the cleaning. I don't want a sink that always looks dirty!0 -
I can honestly say my black sink is dead easy to clean. (Franke 'Fraganite' Mythos MTG611 colour 'graphite') I don't use bleach on it...no need to, just swish around with a squirt of washing up liquid or any type of mild kitchen spray, like Fairy, and a scratchy sponge.
I don't wash up much in it 'cos we have a dishwasher, but it is used several times a day and looks as good as the day it was installed.
Maybe the other persons black sink is made out of different materials that stain a lot easier? All I know is I am VERY happy with my sink and would recommend to anyone.0 -
