When is best to buy used car ?

Month end possibly, as its used cars. Quarter end for new cars.

You will save far more by being prepared to travel. Once you've settled on a specific model, use autotraders national search to search for similar cars. The variance is usually massive. Granted it may take an afternoon to get the car and bring it home, but if someone offered you 1000 pounds for an afternoons work, you'd break their arm!

There is no real good time or bad time to buy a car, just a deal that works for both parties at the time of sale.

You might find a car that has been in stock for 90 days and do a deal on it as they want rid, but if it hasn't sold in 90 days is it such a good deal.

Salesmen that have targets to reach have a tendancy to work for main dealers, most small dealers are small businesses and therefore are a lot more picky about what they hold in stock, some just move cars around to other traders to keep the front looking fresh.

The price of any used car will vary depending on how long it has been in stock, but the days of buying a softtop in winter for half its summer balue are gone, if in fact they ever existed other than on tv programs aimed at the private car buyer.
