facebook - leaving comments

hi,ive recently set up a page for my school ptfa who do not want anyone to be able to post comments/photos. Ive managed to set it up so that no-one can write on the wall etc, but when i put info on about events, it gives the option for people to leave a comment (which I dont want them to have the option to)
does anyone know how i get around this? ive been in marketing, clicked on comments, then put in the user id, and amended comments to 0 but it doesnt do anthing - just keeps coming up with a gobbledygook box saying register, then replace app/lnk (?) with the id number which ive done - but still no joy!
Thanks very much,

Can everyone view the content or do you have to join the group?

  • thanks, ive set it up as a local business and was trying to add a like box so that people could "like" it and get an update whenever i wrote anything.

havent seen anything where i set up them being friends? when i go into account settings it shows as my own profile.

Ive tried edit settings on the ptfa page, but cant find anything?

Is it possible to have a facebook page where no-one except the administrator can leave a comment?

    thanks,

Nope it's against the ethics of the owners of Facebook since they want to know EVERYTHING about you and your friends so they can market the info... ^_^ lol

If it is set up as a group you can have only admins write on the wall, upload photos and videos, post links etc.

The group can be open (anyone can join), closed (admins have to approve join request) or secret (invitation only and does not show on search results).
  • Someone mentioned http://www.myfreeforum.org in another thread on the MSE forum. I wonder if that would be better for you as only approved members would be able to both see and reply to posts.

Ignore that unless you have an old group kicking around, any groups set up now are on the "improved" group system where it appears you can still control who can join but not control them posting.
