I have only seen one in a house clearance a few years ago, I shouldn't imagine you would find one easily. Maybe some 1930-50's style re-enactment groups may be able to help you source one, but I guess cost may be an issue.0

Yeah, once more something recently discussed by me and my cousin pops up. Her washing machine is dying and doesn't spin properly and as she cannot afford another we were talking about if these were still available.. guess not.. shame really.GC 2011

I would recommend a freestanding spin dryer - similar to this one - http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&q=spin+dryers&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=3100443105080226379&ei=8tTZTPDAHsa3hAextMnPAg&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCsQ8wIwAA
IF you can get your hands on one of those - they spin better than automatic washing machines.
I'd say one of the problems with a second-hand mangle could be the rubber on the rollers getting very worn/grubby over the years. They're also a bit of a beggar when they've been oiled - if it gets on your washing, your snookered.

Wow! that is a seriously old one!
My mum had one from the 1950's.....it would look positively state of the art, compared to that! 1950's ones had rubber covered rollers. Many happy hours spent turning the handle!!
ETA this looks more user friendly.

Hi Square Bear,
my mum used to have a twin-tub that had one of these http://www.amazon.com/GetPreparedStuff-Best-Clothes-Wringer-Hand/dp/B002QSXK60 ,that you put on the table "bit". IYKWIM
Yes, I know it's in $$, but they're out there.
