life insurance phone call

sorry if this is covered here already, i received a phone call today (from moneywise possibly? didn't catch it) it wasn't a great time as i had noisy visitors. the caller said she spoke to me a few months back about our life cover - i have no recollection of this! - and that martin lewis has been highlighting this a lot recently, namely people paying too much to cover their mortgage. she said she's not selling me anything but trying to save me money . i couldn't take in what she was saying and couldn't answer her questions off the top of my head, so she's calling back on thursday - just wondered if anyone else has had this type of call? is it on the level? i really have no recollection of speaking to anyone by phone about this, and i don 't want to give out any information if it could be detrimental to us.
thanks for reading!

Of course she is trying to sell you something, she is trying to sell you her services.

Just tell her you are really busy and to send you something by email and if it is of any interest, after your financial advisor has looked it over then you will respond.
Wait a few days, respond by saying you have no requirements at this time. You have kept the details on file and will be in touch if things change. End by saying please do not telephone me.

Im a receptionist so it comes as second nature. I can tell lies like a good un over the phone but if it comes to eye contact i just fall apart.

Same as anyone selling double glazing, home improvements, just tell them that you rent the house, gets rid of them in seconds.
Or that someone in the house has just died:rotfl::rotfl:
    That just slays them................

Certain companies conduct their business over the phone and provide products and services that may be beneficial. Becuase there is no face-to-face interaction, no business logos, instant information etc. for you to base a decision on how credible this company is, it is difficult to know how reputable they are.

I agree with doing your research on a company, etc. Not sure about instantly ruling the company out and assuming that they are trying to prey on your good nature of taking their call; don't feel naive.

However, if this company genuinly didn't speak to you a few weeks ago (perhaps quiz them on this further to see if you recall) and they are using this line as a way in, then I would disagree with their 'tactics' and methods and certainly wouldn't want to do business with them.

If you think you may require life cover, or if you have existing cover and would like to review it to see how competitive your cover is then you should speak to an Insurance Adviser. There are fee-free independent independent brokerages that would be happy to offer you advise and quotations.

If you cannot remember the phone call, politely say "thanks but no thanks." You don't have to lie about it or indeed worry about it or feel naive. It happens to people every day. If however you need or want life insurance, ask them, search for it or get a good adviser, but above all, don't worry.
