Can someone ive me the answer or point me in the right direction of file sharing at home. What I want to do is on my old desktop (xp) i have saved all oy photo's, video's and documents etc. I have just bought a laptop (7) so I would like to save any photo's I download onto the laptop in the file I have got stored on the desktop. Also I would obviously like to take any photo I have saved on my desktop and get it on my laptop from the desktop file.
Is this possible to start with or is it an expensive thing to sort out?
Thanks

Yeah sure but for £45.5 you can get a 1TB drive that's even better than dirt cheap sadly tho using the own network option in post 2 costs zilch

It'll only cost zilch if both machines are currently connected to a network somehow. This is not clear from the OP's post.
If both are standalone machines that are not connected via a wireless router or a Ethernet hub, then they would need to get a crossed Ethernet cable as a bear minimum (cheapest route) to create a direct network between the two machines, before following the instructions in the link for sharing.
You could splash out on a router if you require the benefits of a network, but if you're only sharing files between 2 machines then an external HD would be better IMHO.0 -

Well bear with me then, at a bare minimum cost would be a crossover a cable , however if OP uses a HD/Usb stick then
, I suggested File Sharing as an option , without assuming OP has network or not, but he has not been back on since so lets not split hairs/hers/errsIs this possible to start with or is it an expensive thing to sort out?
