    Only options are;

Leeds - BMI, but very expensive unless you book early

East Mids - BMI Baby, this is much more reasonable

I use another flight checker but I'll not post it here!

Hope this helps but the shout of the train could be a real option. When you take into account the time to be at the airport for check in, then the flight, pick up your bags and then a transfer into the centre...... with the train, you get on (hopefully no connections!) and get off in the centre.

And with the deals where sometimes that 2 singles are cheaper - I've travelled recently, where I've got 1st class for less than an Apex return!!!
  • Hi, great spot this one. Does anyone know whether midnight Thursday means tonight or tomorrow night?!

Thanks for the replies, looks like the train probably is the best and cheapest option - BMI baby gave me a ridiculously expensive price (online) and I didn't find anything less than £200 return

The 'offers' sometimes seen may be genuine but it seems you have to be very flexible, and very lucky, to be able to take advantage
  • Thanks for the info. I just bagged myself two full days in Berlin for a return airfare of £30 all in. Headline offer was 0.01p each way but £30 still aint bad. I can't say I actually saved money though as until I read Martin's email I hadn't been planning any trips.

Having only recently seen Al Gore’s new documentary film, An Inconvenient Truth, about the threats of global warming I do feel guilty. Perhaps I should visit a Berlin dominatrix for a damn good thrashing.

Carbon Offset schemes are just a gimmick so that we can feel a little less angst ridden and avoid making some painful lifestyle choices. Still there's always tomorrow - I hope!

Now I've got the cheap air fare any suggestions on where I should look for good hotel deals?

    Cheers,
    Ade
  • Any idea where I can get a cheap flight to Barcelona International? Reus and Girona (the two promoted by RyanAir) are a good 100km away from Barcelona! And BCN isn't on the FlightChecker!

    Ideally going from London Stansted!
*proud to be dealing with my debts*
  • Thomsonfly do cheap flights to Barcelona from Coventry airport.

Ryanair doesn't fly into BCN; I think Easyjet does, but personally I've never found them particularly cheap. Last time I went to Barcelona I flew into Girona, and though it's not as convenient, there's an airport bus for about 7 euros that takes you right into the centre of Barcelona in 45 mins-1 hour.

Obviously if time's tight this isn't a good option for you, but you're much more likely to get a cheap flight into Girona (saving more than the cost of the bus!) than into Barcelona International.
  • I refuse to even consider flying with Ryanair as they have little regard to safety, and they treat their crew with the same regard as slaves. ! They are in the same league as sweatshop factories using child labour.....
  • I don't think Ryanair's safety measures are compromised but I do think their customer service is rubbish and I refuse to fly them unless I have to go somewhere obscure and they are the only person that goes to that destination.

The amount of [severe] delays I've suffered with Ryanair plus the fact that in most cases, you end up in the middle of nowhere with a lengthy transfer (and additional cost) to get to your intended destination is just not worth it.

I look at it in a time = money way. Quite often, other airlines fly within an overall £20 - £30 difference. If I end up where I want to be in a timely fashion, it's worth the extra couple of quid in my eyes. If I'm going away for a weekend, I've got better things to do than twiddle my thumbs at Stansted waiting for my plane to arrive hours after I should have departed!
