Unable to sign in MSN Messenger - 81000306

This suddenly happened to me this morning.
I have the latest version of msn - I cannot login with my regular ID, whether locally or via Web messenger.

Error 81000306 suggests a problem with my net connection.
However, I can login with a different ID.

This is the same whether I do it at work or from home.

It surely cant be the password as I can login to my hotmail with it.

Has anyone been having the same problem?

Thanks in advance

have you got the latest messenger software..try deleting it and reinstalling
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!
  • What firewall are you using? If you are using ZoneAlarm then you cant sign in. You have to use the msn web messenger until the messenger team fixes the problem.

  • I am unable to log in via web messenger.

However, I can log in (web and on PC) with an alternative ID.

I have exactly the same problem from my home computer and my work's computer.

Using v7.5 at home and v7.0 at work.

    thanks.

Doesn't sound like a connection problem, it sounds like it may be a problem with your MSN account. Try resetting your password, this may clear it.

If you go to the login screen on Web messenger, click on forgot password and follow the instructions.

If this doesn't work, I guess the next step would be to e-mail MSN and explain the problem. They may be able to see something wrong with your account and fix it.

    If you're using Zone Alarm
then scroll down about 2/3rd of the way down this Inside Windows Live Messenger blog to "Problems signing in" for 6th October, update 11th October, which says that they are having 'issues' (and seem to be taking a v. long time to fix them...).

On some occasions the sign-on works... On most others, it doesn't.
