Argos Card?

Thinking about getting this card for the 0% deals on purchases if the balance is paid off in full within the 6, 9 or 12 month period.
I will be making some large purchases on household goods soon so thought this might be the best option.
Does anyone have any experiences about this card?

We have one of these. the interest free deals work great, and we didn't get charged interest on other purchases either, as you would with a credit card.
Your payments also pay off the normal balance before the interest free, maximising the benefit.
And they even sent out a letter about a month before the interest free period was going to end as opposed to hoping that we'd forget and pay their normal extortionate interest rate.
So all in all a good deal for whatever you get on interest free. Just remember to pay it off at the end of the 6 months or whatever.0 -
when you apply, there are two mail indicator boxes on the form regarding how argos will use your information.
if you opt out of the second one, argos card services will only send your statement, none of the promo vouchers/money off coupons.

Thanks Simon, think this card will be VERY handy on the 0% deals. Applied online with an instant decision.0 -

Thanks, I didn't tick the second box when I applied online so hopefully I'll get some vouchers when I start spending on the card.0 -
Yes we used it to purchase two large sofas over 24 months. And the money is sitting in a bank account earning interest.0

its strange the policy towards vouchers. they do it based on spending habits and demographics from what ive been told.
i havent had any for ages, yet some of my colleagues get loadsthey do *sometimes* send you a birthday card containing a £5 off £50 spend voucher (i didnt get one of those either  ) but at the least the option is there.
another thing to be aware of is their approach to credit limits. if you spend on the card a lot, they increase your credit limit frequently, but by small incriments. they write your credit limit on your statements, but do not draw your attention to the fact that they have changed it. which is, IMHO, rather irresponsible when one of the security questions they ask when you phone is "what is the credit limit on the card" how the hell am i suppose to know if YOU keep changing it every month?!!
its worth noting that argos card (and several other credit companies) do offer a service where you can freeze your credit limit at a set amount, and they will not change it after that unless you consult them. handy for those rare species out there who dont like having a large limit on their cards :beer:know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0
