dissertation: - costs of gas and electric
Options
Hi
for my dissertation I need to come up with some sort of average cost for each kwh of gas and electric.
I know it differs alot based on tarrifs, provider and things like paying by direct debit, but could someone provide some ideas please.
I was thinking for gas 4p per kwh and for electricity 12p per kwh.
I am also going to look into all the tarrifs by the 7 major providers and come up with some average, but at what ratio shall I use tier 1 and tier 2 to. I was thinking that in general people use 4 kwh's in tier 2 to every 1 used in tier 1.
What do you think?
I know there are alot of other things that actually take the prices into account but I am only after an average figure to use in my calculations.
I may also use a minimum and maximum price alongside the average

If this is for heating costs then the work may already have been done for you. Comparative Domestic Heating CostsA kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

What about various discounts?
You could put kWh into comparison sites, get a price and then divide by kWh to get an average price per kWh.
If you want to go the whole (domestic) hog you'd need to look at the proportions of each supplier in each region and balance the number accordingly.
I hope you enjoy numbers....0 -
There are two words in 'alot'. Also, considering the topic of your dissertation, it would be sensible to learn how to spell 'kwh' correctly. I know that that is terribly anachronistic of me - it is a breach of your 'ooman rights to dock marks so pettily.
You could always start with the national average figures and crib results from the comparison sites. The ratio of tier 1 to tier 2 units varies - not all suppliers use the same bounds.0 -
