My psoriasis started in my final year of my degree, and flares when I am stressed or worried.
I would definately go an see a doctor, it can be such an annoying condition, depending on how bad it is, it can be treated in a number of ways. The sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!0 -
I too have this but it only flares when I'm stressed. It first came on when I was doing my GCSEs and back then I was prescribed steriod cream for it. It hasn't flared up as bad since so I haven't gone looking for any new treatments as thankfully it only seems to affect my knuckles and isn't too much of a PITA.0

my sister suffered badly from this when she was doing her A levels steroid creams didnt seem to help much then her doctor sent her for UV light treatment at the local hospital which was basically just stand up sunbeds. She said it worked great for her cleared up in no time and now if she gets a flare up she will just go on an ordinary sunbed for couple mins every other day for couple weeks usually helps her greatly. she knows the health risks associated with sunbeds and only uses them when the psoriasis is bad maybe once a year or so. maybe best to see doctor before your boyfriend tries this and have any moles etc checked first0

Folks can I just pop a reminder up........
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). Hi I have also suffered from psoriasis for the last 20 years and certain things will cause them to flare:
1. Stress
2. The change in the weather (particularly just coming back from a hot country to our lovely weather!!)
3. Paint fumes- bizarre but they tend to cause a sore throat which is known to cause a flare up.
I've tried every cream under the sun and now end up using nivea soft creme for my body. However, if he has them in his hair I've been using a shampoo for the last two years called Jason's natual aloe vera shampoo. i order it online and it costs £5.99 a bottle but I haven't had a flare up on my scalp since using ut. I recently went away and had to use another shampoo and within 30 mins of drying my hair my scalp and above my ears etc had broken out!!
Hope this helps- I know some people use sunbeds and RVH have treatments which can be referred to via GP0 -
Both my mum and brother suffer from the psoriasis that can accompany arthritis.
My brother does get treatment from the doctor but last year bought some soap at the Belfast Continental market which is supposed to come from the dead sea. He said it helped soften the skin and ease when he had a flare up.
It doesn't cure the condition, nothing does, but it did give a bit of relief. He says the soap doesn't look the best but is full of the minerals associated with the dead sea. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
