Hi all,

My Samsung 50" TV fell off the wall yesterday and smashed the screen!
The problem is, I only renewed my home contents insurance policy today!
What should I do?:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

    If you renewed the insurance yesterday does that mean it was current (last year's premium?) or do you mean you have had a period without insurance.

    Its pretty straightforward. If you had valid insurance including accidental damage yesterday then you should make a claim - if you didn't then you should try and get the damaged televison repaired or replace it at your own expense.

    It would not be a good idea to try and make a claim if you were not covered at the time the set was damaged.

  • Hi John,

    Thanks for your swift response!
    I was insured up until 11.59pm last night with the Halifax and my new policy started today from 12.01am with eSure.
    I'm just really worried, do I contact Halifax or eSure?
    Is it too late to put a claim in through Halifax as I'm no longer insured by them? And pressumabley it's nothing to do with esure as it happened yesterday...Am I screwed?

    If it happened during the Halifax insurance period then your claim should be with them - if the policy covers accidental damage.

    If you have not yet made contact you should do so immediately as any further delay would seem suspicious to the insurer. also if the television was installed by a 3rd party they may have some responsibility

    If it was because of an earthquake then your insurance probably will not cover it :rotfl:

    If you paid someone to install it, and they what TV they were installing for, you should get the cost off all of them instead of having to make a claim on your insurance and lose your no claims bonus.
