OK, we had an extension last year, added dining room, entrance hall and utility room.
Have an overhead and wall lights in the dining room. New fuse boxeses and all labelled.
So turned the overhead light on in dining room the other night and it tripped the fuse. Reset, tripped again.
The light fitting is a fancy thing with 8 halogen bulbs. Have now replaced all bulbs and although it doesnt trip the fuse box, it is dead as a dodo.
Any ideas?
Many thanks in advance.

Try another light fitting.0

I assume with 8 bulbs it is low voltage so probably the transformer blown. Get a sparks in if you don't know what you are doing.0

99.9% sure the "transformer" will be knackered (as others have said, but it isn't a transformer in the true sense - with a wound coil - but a cheap switched mode PSU)). I probably change out half a dozen or so light fittings like this (ultimately cheap chinese made tat from one of the "sheds" like B&Q or Focus) for customers, every month. One bulb blows, "transformer" doesn't like the reduced load & gives up the ghost. Change it.0

Is it on a dimmer? If so, it could be this that's gone. You could try replacing it with a switch - turn off the circuit first though as the switch will still be live...0

Thank you. I would like to say it isnt "tat" but then I dont know what value is "tat".
If I was to change it, what would you recommend?0
