Contributions based ESA help

Hi, my husband has been off work for the past year with cancer which he is still receiving treatment for. He received SSP then went on to lower rate ESA between April and beginning of August. He received a letter in July saying he was in the support category and was receiving the higher payment from August to end of November. At the time this didn't register as we had hoped he would be in remission and possibly back at work on a part-time basis but unfortunately he's now had a transplant with possibly further radiotherapy required which knocks all plans and hopes out the window again. I've trawled the internet but can't find out if this payment will stop, will it continue or will he have to attend another interview at Jobcentre Plus? Anyone help please?

The payment shouldn't stop as there is no time limit on contribution based ESA (at the moment). They may have recommended a review in November in which case they will send you another ESA50 form to fill in. On the basis of that form and the documentation you provide they will assess again!

    Just ring the helpline!

Thanks - I did phone them this morning but the person I spoke to wasn't very helpful and difficult to understand. I'm going to try again tomorrow.
