Digital SLR Insurance Needed for USA

Hi there
I'm going to New York on Thursday and will be borrowing a friends camera to do some filming. She does not have insurance and said I would get it covered for my trip for theft and damage.
I have a Canon EOS 5D Mark II
and a Canon 28-135mm Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens
the total value is about £2100! Company's such as photoguard.co.uk will only insure the camera for 12months minimum. I only need cover for a week (can stretch to a month) all the travel insurance company cannot cover a £2100 camera. Who can I go to?
Thanks

If you have Home Insurance where you live, ask them first. Don't forget to mention you are borrowing a camera from a friend, as this may affect their decision.

If not, if you google gadget Insurance, there are various companies that offer policies. Not likely to be cheap.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

    (2) 0871 contact numbers
    (3) No geographical address unless you hunt for it
    (4) email only contact form
    (5) Spamming gits

A quick google on 'short term camera insurance' brought up a lot of companies! I've run a quote through the first sponsored link http://www.eandl.co.uk/leisure-and-lifestyle/camera-insurance and they had a policy that provided £2500 cover @ £5.15 per month - which is renewed (or can be cancelled) on a monthly basis. I've made a couple of assumptions so the price may be different for you. Also check the policy as it may not provide the cover you need.

The only other thing I can add is the cover seems cheap compared to the last time I got a quote for camera cover (around £120 for a lower amount) and I extended my home insurance instead - if the other companies are a similar price, it might be worth checking who the underwriter is for the policy and how good they are at paying out should there be need to make a claim.

*Just noticed the date of the OPs post so a bit late for him/her!
