I wonder if anyone could offe some advise on the following:
My last job finished due to the end of a contract.
In the last few months i had had to borrow money to replace my
Computer monitor and have my base unit fixed.
My computer has now gone wrong again,i have windows xp sp3 but
internet sites seem to read i have not got sp3.
The Job Centre states that to have a releastic chance of getting a job ,you need to have your computer,
I now have no money left and i am sure that i read on the MoneySavingExpert Site that there was a little known benefit grant of £300 they could grant if it would help a person get a job,but i can no longer find the article on here,
i claim no other benefits,
Can anyone help?

What's the money for? What you have is a software issue. You can fix it for free.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Join your local library for free internet access or pop to your local job centre to browse the jobs there.
Here is the scheme you are probably thinking of.

I'm surprised to read the "grant grabbing" article. And that's because Advisors Discretionary Fund is dying a death, unfortunately. Budgets have been severely trimmed due to the cutbacks. Unless it's help you need for a job you're about to start, I honestly don't think you'll get anywhere with such an application, sorry.
Why don't you post a "wanted" on Freecycle ? There might be someone in your area who has an old computer going free.I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.0 -
I am surprised by the term grant grabbing,i find this as an offensive comment as i have worked for 27 years and now i am unemployed i only claim the Jobseekers allowance min as i have bought my own house.
My computer has recently been in a computer shop to be
fixed for which i had to borrow the money.
This puts me off using this forum and i will not be using it again:(0 -
Noooooo .... I wasn't accusing you of grant grabbing .... grant grabbing is referred to in the article which Jowo posted, MSE were highlighting the ADF scheme and used "grant grabbing" as the headline.
Apologies for the confusion, no offence was intended.I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.0 -
