Help please!!! I've been chasing my own tail looking for a villa, 5 beds for next summer. Finally settled on Turkey as this seems to be the best value for money. But I've never been there, can anyone give me any advice on nice, not tacky resorts? So far found villas in Hisaronu, Kalkan and Turunc. My head hurts!

I've not been to these resorts but know something about them. Hisaronu is a bit tacky I believe, Kalkan is upmarket and very hilly, no beach as such but they have bathing platforms. Turunc is a small resort next to the bigger resort of Icmeler. The last place I went to was Dalyan which was fab, 25 mins from airport and nice and small but not too quiet. All would involve flights to Dalaman, the most expensive airport in the world lol
I've been to Calis Beach, Cesme, Kusadasi and Dalyan. Dalyan would be my favourite.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
We stayed in Icmeler this year and visited Turunc by water taxi (€3.50 return), a very nice little place with the usual sorts of shops and a few restaurants. A bit quiet for me but depends what you like.0

If you don't want Tacky then go for Kalkan (I have been told its a more 'up market' area and frequented by a lot of families who attend private school - however, from reading the forums it doesnt sound like everyone is like that.).
Or if you want quiet and relaxing - then go for Turunc 0 I have been told is quiet and non tacky. Id personally go for that but then I like quiet and relaxing.
Forget your other choice.
If I were you I'd pop into Trip Advisor forums for both locations and suss it out for yourself to see if either location suits you or has you running for the hills...0 -
Hi there,
I went to Olu Deniz a few weeks ago. It meant flying to Dalaman airport and then an approximately 1 hours drive to Olu Deniz which is a few miles from the well known Fethiye. Most places from Dalaman will require a short trip.
I chose to Olu Deniz as my partner wanted to go but the main strip there is full of chavvy english types and Turkish resteraunt/bar owners who will lure you with their Essex english. We stayed in the Mozaik Apartments and this was the best part, the apartments and hotel rooms are immaculate and service perfect, the beaches are are beautiful. If you can overlook the chavs then it is a lovely destination.
Fethiye was more Turkish and less crowded with tourists, again it had amazing scenery of mountains and the beaches were wonderful.
There are many excursions available which can be arranged easily once there, so you can choose how much or little to do.0 -
Thanks for your replies. Spec's now changed, grrrrr. A member of the party's now not happy with flight times to Turkish airports. They are night/early morning flights, so he's now looking at Cyprus. Here I go again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0
