Like to just say its lovely to see someone come on here genuinely ask for advice and then take it.
Their are really lovely supportive and helpfull people on this site and it annoys me when people come on and ignore everything they suggest.

(bloody pregnancy making me all soppy :rotfl:)I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Just picking up the point made earlier about gas and electric - they seem a tad high although if you are at home all day that can't help with the bills.
Have you checked recently to check you are on a good tariff with a good provider? It's also worth checking whether you have built up any credit on your account - you may want to claim some of it back if you have although maybe leave some on there to cover winter.
If you are going to switch (check out a comparison site) maybe you could go through Quidco or someone to get cashback as well?
With the mobile - are you able to downgrade a package or 2? even if you are in contract you can sometimes downgrade a bit - it's worth a try
Good luck - it's good to see how much progress you've made already.

I check the tariffs once a year so it's due for a change. However, when we changed last year they seriously underestimated our usage, so we are having to pay lot's more than normal to make up for last year's underpayment and to cover this years. I'm not sure it's a good idea to change until we have this balanced back out.
Regarding the mobile, I took out the contract literally 2 weeks before we got our redundnacy letter. I went back to the provider to ask if I could get out of it, but I couldn't. He did however upgrade me so I got more calls for the same price. I'm not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. I perhaps should have asked for same calls at a lower price.0 -

what is your tariff? every so often i check out the other providers, and, even if mid-contract i have rung up and said 'blah mobile are doing the same deal as me/you for £x less' (or even that they are doing a cheaper deal for new customers and you feel unrewarded as an existing customer). or just ring and say that you cannot afford the tariff and could they reduce as you say'0
