Where is this green light, on the power lead, PSU, motherboard?
Are you sure the fuse in the power lead has not blown?0 -
Hi have tried another power lead but that makes no difference the green light is not coming on now but it was next to where you plug power lead in0

Sounds like you may have a problem with the power supply unit on your PC.
Do you know which power supply you have? Some have a reset option, others just blow an internal fuse.0 -
Please do not take this the wrong way,on some pc's there is an on off switch on the rear.just were you would place your hand to lift, have you accidently switched it off ?
Plug the base in listen for the fan,if it works add the monitor if it works add one periferall at a time, this will tell you if one of them is causing the problem.
I have had incidents when the front usb port has been damaged and the pc will not power up.
Also a internal fan failed and again the pc detected the fact and the pc would not power up.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -

It sounds like the psu is faulty, did it make a popping sound when it got unplugged, is there a burnt smell from the psu, any black sooty marks ?
If you have the pc unplugged and the case open then it would be worth checking that all the internal connections are correctly seated.
If it's a standard size psu then the prices start from around £10 - 15 to replace.0 -
Had a similar problem recently and found that the power-on logic on the mainboard had failed which meant no power up and a new board. If you can get online on another PC, go to https://www.bluemax.net and then to techtips for ATX. The PSU requires a feedback signal from the mainboard that the board is getting power and Bluemax explains how to do it. If you can't get to Bluemax it means WITH THE POWER OFF removing the ATX power connector and shorting the green wire (power on) connector pin to any black wire (ground) connector pin. Turn the power back on and if the PSU is ok the fan will run. If it doesn't you'll need a new PSU.
But let's be careful out there.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -

Had this problem myself with an older motherboard...and would have got to it eventually.
I had to short the green atx wire (with black atx wire) to get the pc to start if it had been disconnected from the mains at all. Started normally if shut down but not switched off at the plug socket as the 5v standby voltage kept it in a ready state. My PC worked perfectly once started...just remember to remove the short after the PC starts up or you will have the problem of not being able to shut it off !!.0
