Need a washing machine and Fridge Freezer

Where's best to buy?

Will any places to combined discount for multiple purchases?

Ive been looking at Comet Clearance and as long as i dont mind a few scratches that seems a fairly decent bet.

BEKO are a budget brand by the looks of things.....worth steering clear of? I dont want to be buying another washing machine in a years time.....that said, my partners dad knows his way around all appliances so wear and tear will not result in me having an expensive repair bill, just have to buy a him a bottle of wine and pay for the parts!

Cheers for your help.... :money:

I agree with Andrew. Budgets are budgets so only buy the cheaper brand if that is all you can really afford. It is worth checking Which? as well to see what they say about appliances. I know there was a big article on washing machines these days that are almost disposable.

Find the appliances you like and see what prices are being quoted in the main stores and then check to see if you can get the same model cheaper on-line. Main stores can give you a discount and/or throw something in for you (We got a nice discount when we bought our double oven and dishwasher from Comet. They even threw in a big box of vanish in as well!)

Ive just had to buy all new appliances as the old ones didnt fit in the new house!! I used 365electrical and found them really really good - competitve on price and they deliver on a Wednesday and a Friday i think. It sealed the deal for me that it was free delivery too

I bought a Neff built in oven from Comet Clearance when I moved into this house about 2.5yrs ago. It stated it had some scratches to the brushed Stainless Steel, but when it arrived it was pristine. I couldn't see a mark on it. I saved around £160 on the average selling price elsewhere too. I'd have no hesitation using them again.

Always try to go for a decent reputable brand as it will pay dividends in the end. As another poster mentions, buy cheap buy twice & it's a true saying.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

My mum has a Beko freezer which has been going strong for almost 8 years without any problems. She is very happy with it.

I too have a Beko fridge dreezer and have had it coming up to 5 years and not had a problem with it at all (touch wood).

Things always go wrong, and you always get people wingeing about things on the internet, usually for every moaner on the internet there are a few hundred / thousand happy customers.

Obviously its up to you OP but I personally wouldn't discount Beko (or any other product) just on the basis of one bad review on the internet.

BTW I always used to go for budget brands, had a Goodmans TV, lasted me 8 years and was still going strong when I gave it away, had a Beko fridge freezer as above, had a Servis washing machine that self destructed after 3 years but had 5 year warranty so got it replaced with a Beko washing machine... Advent netbook, Acoustic Solutions (Argos brand) TV... etc.

Have also had branded goods i.e. Sony, Fuji, Toshiba, LG, etc and they have also been fine but no better than the cheap things.

When buying white goods i turn up in a van ready to take them straight away, i find this gives me a bit of bargaining power as im taking there and then, i also find currys are easy to get a few quid knocked off. Go in on a weekday morning when theyre quiet and get hold of a manager as these are the ones that can authorise the best discounts

BEKO are a copy cat brand, it originates from Turkey, and we all know about Turkish fakes. BEKO copy everything, from irons to industrial freezers. I have had a BEKO fridge freezer for the past 10 years, and it still runs perfectly.

It is worth buying you will get the latest technology for roughly 2/3rds of the price.
  • Many thanks for all the info....

I think we may have a firdge freezer from reletives to tide us over (completion date 3rd of December for our first house.) so i might just see what comes up on comet clearance for the washing machine. Lots of them on there have scrathes on the sides and top but that wont be seen anyway as its under the worktop....

That january sales start earlier and earlier these days so might go to currys when i hire a van and pick up there best deal.

    Thanks again.
