why are you going back to avg, that didn't find anything either, neither did spybot/rapport which are churning away slowing things down without any benefit. avast has the best detection rates and lightest footprint of any free ones, as already explained, no antivirus finds everything, it may even be a false positive, or undetected due to out of date signatures.
Hi closed, I,m not going back to AVG, I just said if I moved again, it would be back to avg.I can only presume, if Avast is ok, then it,s got through the back door, probably when I took avg off, and installed Avast. It only takes a second of defences down to get in,it just seemed strange that Avast didn,t pick up on it when I used it to scan, twice.Malwarebytes picked it up.AVG couldn,t because it wasn,t on then::Either Avast missed it, or, it got in back door, but it still missed it.Rapport not A/v, and spybot teatime I,m not too sure about how good it is .I can only claim, avg has been good to me for years, no trojans at all.Time will tell if Avast compares as well.I find it heavier when using pc while scanning, than avg, so I shall use boot scan.

it's a resident scanner, manual scans aren't needed unless you suspect a problem

Please remember that boot-time scan takes quite a long time - up to several hours. As you can't define default actions for the boot-time scan in Avast free antivirus, you should check the status of the scan from time to time - the scan stops after finding a virus or a malware item and asks for the type of action to perform.
