I've seen this advertised on my local Scope shop window today, I thought I would post it here.



What is MagicTaxi?

It's such a simple idea. Imagine a search engine powered by the biggest names on the internet. Easy-to-use, fast and effective, delivering results without fuss. MagicTaxi does all of that. And at the same time generates thousands of pounds of revenue for deserving causes – without costing a penny.

HALF of MagicTaxi's net revenue gained from advertising goes to charity. MagicTaxi provides quick access to the web where you can search for general web results, images, video and much more. Magictaxi also offers dedicated shopping, research and travel searches.

How does it work?

A different one of our charitable partners appears on our homepage each day. For the 24 hour period that a charity is featured, whenever you search, the charity receives 50% of the net revenue MagicTaxi receives from its advertising partners. So every day you search with MagicTaxi you can support a different charity.

You can also choose to download a MagicTaxi Internet Explorer toolbar. Once installed, the toolbar allows you to search from any web page and help charity. You get the same search options as if you were searching from the homepage – and it comes with a handy popup blocker too.

Supporting your favourite charity

And if you want to support just one charity, you can select a search homepage that will always feature your chosen charity. Whenever you search using this dedicated homepage 50% of the net revenue MagicTaxi receives from its advertising partners goes just to your selected charity.

You can also choose to download a Charity toolbar for Internet Explorer. Once installed, the toolbar allows you to search from any web page and help your chosen charity. You get the same search options as if you were searching from the homepage – and it comes with a handy popup blocker too.

There is another service out there that enables you to give your searches to any charity registered in the UK - www.everyclick.com. As well as giving your searches they have an online donations service. You can also build sponsorship pages, give eVouchers and shop. It is a free to use service and they have already given away over £500k! It's worth a look!

And also Easysearch where you get your own domain, for example: http://ocduk.easysearch.org.uk/ this is part of the Easyfundraising scheme (http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/ocduk) which allows your supporters to shop online like normal, but the charity earns if they visit sites like Argos, Amazon, HMV, Boots etc, etc through Easyfundraising. I did my car insurance online and earned my charity £30 in one shot. We have raised £480 in about 18 months.
