Digital Vs SLR?

We have a DSLR and a compact camera, and the SLR takes FAR superior shots. However I did a photography course to get the most out of the settings, as unless you know what you are doing it might not necessarily produce amazing pictures. I'd say at the very least buy a decent guide to the camera you're getting. We use the compact camera more often as I always have it in my handbag and obviously the SLR is a lot more bulky, but I prefer the SLR any day. I just have a Nikon D40 (I believe the newer version is the D3000) with standard lens and a couple of different lens filters.DFW by end of June 2016...! LBM June 2011
