You "believe" that you registered the change of owner? It's a kind of important fact and something that you really should know! As to why you didn't get a reminder, it could be because you actually didn't change the owner details or maybe it got lost in the post, I have no idea. Regardless, as per an earlier post you could have taken everything along to the Post Office and filled in the relevant form and got your car taxed this way. As for driving the car untaxed (as it is currently) of course you can't!

OP please calm down, the worst case you will end up in court and be fined up to £1000 and be made to pay for 6 months road tax!

OP, you haven't said whether you have the registration document in your name.

If you do have it, then clearly the change of owner has been registered.
Is your current address on the registration document?

Why, was the big round disc in the window with the expiry date on it in bold numbers 1 inch high not enough?

Not until its taxed nor is it alright to keep it parked on the road either. You can only drive it without displaying a current tax disc if you've applied for tax BEFORE the 1st of the month.

You don't have the registration document. Didn't it occur to you at any time in the last 11 months that it'd taken a long time to arrive?
