Train Station closest to M5 (near Exeter/Taunton)

Can anyone advise me.
I am looking to meet up with my husband after his business trip, in order to travel on to our holiday to Cornwall.
He will be travelling from Newport and heading down the M5. I am looking at getting a train to somewhere near the Exeter/Taunton area, but want to make the trip off the M5 as short as possible for my husband to pick up myself and our toddler.
Can anyone recommend the best station to stop at?

Hi there
Tiverton parkway is is about as close to the M5 as you can get. He can leave the motorway at junction 27 and take the A361 and follow the signs for the station. Check out the map here:
