Npower did this for me when I was made redundant and got behind with payments. I went onto usage DD only and if I kept to it for 6 months they wrote off the arrears.
My good friend is now in a similar situation, marriage breakdown/separation
and job finished (seasonal) and has arrears with BG. Do BG do a scheme like I've explained above and what is it called?

Many thanks :)

The quick answer is No but if your friend is on benefits she may qualify for Fuel Direct to have it taken from her benefits.

There is also the British Gas Energy Trust which can sometimes write off debts although this is independant of BG. We only give money to the Trust to distribute to BG Customers at their discretion.

Again, if she is on benefits, she may Qualify for other types of help such as Free insulation so in this occasion tell her to advise the call centre.
