New job... overdraft? Help please!

Just a quick one here...

Starting a new job on 15th November and literally have £3 in my purse to last me until my first payday.:(

I have a basic bank account with the Halifax (Easycash account) and my credit rating is less than perfect for many reasons.

What would be my chances of getting my bank to agree to an overdraft with my appaling credit rating if I can give them proof of my impending employment and salary?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I would very much doubt that they would give you an overdraft on the easycash account - from my understanding its a basic one. Sorry x

No I had just lost my job when I was offered this one, so did not claim...

There's no chance of an overdraft I'm afraid.

As long as you intend to pay it back in full, this is what a payday loan is for I would imagine. It's a slippery slope so you would have to be mega careful.

    Good luck.

  • I would ask the bank to change the account to a standard current account with overdraft :)
  • If you are just changing over jobs what is happening with your final payment from your present employer? Can they not forward it on to you when you leave if you explain your hardship to them?

I don't think I can go for a payday loan as I cannot supply a payslip for a job that has not yet started... problem after problem!!!

I am going from weekly pay (and part time work) to monthly pay (and full time work). My last pay was for only 8 hours work so as you can imagine, it wasn't going to last until my first payday in my new job!
