It can get confusing when some of the residents in a block are still council tenants. In your case seems pretty simple in that any repairs are paid for by you and the other leaseholder. You could look at taking over the freehold from the council at some point.
Exactly. LEASE were probably thinking you were in a block with some council tenants in it still. You are in a house with two leasehold flats, the freeholder would never pay for the maintenance but they would have to make sure it happens and are allowed to charge a management fee for that.
Do you have a written report from the person from the council who said there was no damp?0 -
I'm pretty sure our solicitor does.. not sure if it's worth chasing up though? From what Richard said above it sounds like it was our responsibility to make sure all was okay there before we completed?0

Unfortunately not, it was bought from the previous leaseholder.0

Pity, if it had been the seller that had told you that no works needed doing, you may have had some recourse. You could possibly go after whoever did the survey if they did not spot it.0
