Does anyone know of any sources of information relating to the wear rate of various car tyres? Which? do tests on grip and price but I can't find anything on wear rates.

Too many variables, Cars weight, Speed driven will all affect how tyres wear. Softer winter style
tyres that grip better in the wet generally wear faster.
Cheaper tyres tend to grip less in the wet and last a bit longer.
I have some cheapo tyres on the front of mine, They will be getting changed sooner rather than later.
Today it felt like i was driving on ice. Not enough grip.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Last months Evo, Autocar and Auto Express within the last month have had tyre tests. Very broadly speaking tyres with a low rolling resistance last longer - such as Michelin Energys. Anything with "Eco" or "Fuel Saver" will do better. The man without a signature.0

Just changing mine for winter tyres.
Winter tyres with low rolling resistance.

Not quite, the low rolling resistance is better for fuel consumption. Coincidentally but not for the same reason, rather the tyre compound, Michelin wear rates are better than most - one comparison I saw the other day had them lasting 20 to 25 % longer than the ten or so other brands, but I can't remember where it was

Autoexpress had a good tyre test, you can read it here - http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/total_tyre_guide/213189/tyre_testing.html
Michelin HP Primacy came out well and I've got those on my Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Estate at the moment, covered around 30k on them and still around 5mm tread left, but I do drive carefully. Some would say slowly

I knew that there would be a few exceptions which is why I put "Very broadly speaking..."The man without a signature.0
