How do you copy the image of an actual dvd to another dvd?

Can anyone tell me how to copy the image which is on the actual dvd, not saved but actually printed, on to another dvd? My cousin made a dvd for my Grans' 90th birthday and I thought it would be nice if all my aunts and uncles had a copy which was the exact same.

I did do a search to see if this question had been asked before but I did not get any results.

Get your cousin to send you the image file for you to print onto your DVD's-you'll need an iinkjet that is capable of DVD printing.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Unless you have the image file the only way I can think is you could scan the DVD and get the image that way. Might be best to ask your cousin for a copy of the image file if they have it. Then you would need either printable DVDs and a suitable printer, or DVD stickers you can print the image onto.

I only have an Officejet 7210 I wouldn't imagine it would print dvds. I must try googling it.
  • Ask your cousin for more copies.

Failing that, buy have a printer than can print to DVD, I can recommend grabbing an old epson r200, very cheap to run and the resultant dvd printing is pretty good :)

There are several ways to put an image onto a media disk. One way would be to get adhesive labels like these ones:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/CD-DVD-Matte-Labels-100pk/dp/B00009EJ4P

(I'm not recommending this brand of label or Amazon in general - just an example.)
  • Eshul - I used to use Press-It labels, which looked ok but, if he disk was left in the drive had a tendency to lift from the disk, taking the covering with it, rendering the disks useless.
If the op has the image, and is only after a handful of disks, then I'll happily print and post blank disks to them and they can throw on the data.

..but, obviously, Plan A is for the guy who did the disks to make copies.

My cousin hasn't been well so that is why I thought I would do them and save her the bother.

Does it actually print on the dvd? If so, have you any idea where I could purchase one as I haven't found one yet?

We have the Canon iP4500 printer which (apparently) can print directly onto CD/DVD, although I've never tried!

It's a great printer (and reasonably cheap at about £50 or £60 if I remember rightly). Not sure if they still make that model, though...

I'd second the Canon Pixma series, bought a IP4000 a few years ago (uses unchipped ink cartridges) which came with a CD/DVD printing tray, gives excellent results.

Mainly use Ritek full face printable dvds to copy/print to.
