Dan's the official fireworks voucher detective, always seems to have his finger on the pulse! Asda Pyrotime *cough* ;)

Dug a little info on the Lidl/Weco stuff here for quick reference :

    Ipanema 30 shot, 30 seconds, 16mm bore
    25 Carat (nla) 25 shot, 30 seconds, 18mm bore
    Aquila, 16 shot, 35 seconds, 19mm bore
Voodoo Star, 50 shot, 50 seconds, 20mm bore

Interestingly Brothers “Starring” cake is also 16 shot, 35 seconds & 19mm bore… and the Aquila/Starring videos look near identical. Same base firework, different packaging perhaps?? Just saying..

Haha Il try and keep my eye out again this year :)

Thanks for the info, its also worth pointing out that Aquila is a few pounds cheaper than Starring which everyone raves about so Aquila could be a real bargain if it does infact look the same when someone comes to fire it!! :T

Can't wait til Monday now, looking forward to picking a few up and hopefully a video being uploaded somewere of the current version! :)

I doubt that Starring and Aquila are the same firework, I am sure that Aquila will have the standard WECO packaging including the fold out base and WECO pride themselves on German manufacturing from what I remember and starring is not manufactured in Europe.

Either way less than a week till I can light one of these bad boys.

My initial thoughts were the same, the Weco packaging is unique and very Germanic in quality, however the Aquila is not one of Weco's German made cakes, it's Chinese..

The bombettes spiral in the same manner on both cakes, the rising comet head colours are the same and the bursts pretty much identical. Maybe there's a little industrial espionage going on here

Agree though, all speculation, let's get one bought, fired and applauded/derided :)
  • Bring on the pyro yo!!!!!

That Voodoo Star looks quite promising with blinking stars transformation comets golden willows and loud reports and so does Aquila! Ipanema's still there (good thing too.) and the selection packs. They've still got the same crappy rockets:(;)

Nipped into Morrisons yesterday, cabinets out, full of pyro (dummies I presume) and non removeable pricelists in a flip chart form on top. No leaflets. Was in a hurry but there did seem a rather large selection box for £10 if I saw it right.
