As Anthony said make sure the spectators are at least 25m away. I would also recommend staking out your fireworks if possible. This can be done using stakes and a roll of gaffa tape. When I done mine for the first time last week I used cling film to wrap around each firework and put a bag over the top to make sure that any rain didnt get to them. This way I was able to set them all out during the day so everything was ready when setting the fireworks off.

If you dont have time to set everything out I would just use a bucket of sand as said above or in the past I have used a bucket of soil which works just as well!

Also glasses hats and gloves are recommended but for the fireworks that you have you should be fine with a pair of normal garden gloves. Just make sure that you get back after each firework. The gloves and glasses are defiantly needed if you plan to stand near to the fireworks to produce your display. But if you can get to the recommended safety distance after lighting each firework you should be fine!

Also for lighting the fireworks I have always used simple cooker lighters from asda. The flame on them does tend to blow out but a few clicks wont halm if its just a family display and your not after constant flow. Will also save you a lot of money as there around £1.70 to buy!

You have a great selection of fireworks there!

For the order I would recommend with starting with the pieces from the fire pack (start with the fountains in the box then moving on to the multi shot roman candles).

I would then go on to fire items from the liberator barrage pack starting with the smallest and working your way up (it might be a good idea to mix some fire pack items with the liberator items). This should give a nice balanced starter display. After you have fired these I would go on to fire the 25 carat followed by the inpanema cake. To finish off your display i would use the fire fighter cake!

-Throughout the whole display set off rockets randomly between different fireworks, building up from small rockets to the largest ones. What I would make sure you do though is leave the large individual cakes til the last so your display builds and builds and everyone remembers the finale :)

    Hope thats helpful!

And I wish you luck with the birthday display!

Just out of interest when are you firing the fireworks, and as always is there any chance of a pic of everything if thats not too cheeky :P haha

We dont have safety glasses or hardhats so what would you suggest? Also which are the ones that we have to keep away from the trees and plants please?
Buy cheap hard hats from an army surplus shop and get goggles from a pound shop.

I know safety should always be first but, I think for the fireworks that Sheila has I think should be fine with just gloves.

If you are intending to do a non stop display then they are needed but for a selection of barrage packs and cakes I think you should be fine! I only say this as it doesn't actually say on the fireworks in question that you should wear hard hats and glasses. These are usually just extra precautions that some take when putting on big displays!

After all this is money saving expert :) and if I really thaught they were needed I would totally follow suit as safety always comes first!

Right Im off to start waterproofing my fireworks ready for Saturdays display! Just simple cling film wrap with tape. Then storing til Saturday afternoon when I will stake them and waterproof more with a plastic bag.

I always put on a hardhat goggles and gloves when displaying with Cat3 25m fireworks;risk of burns from debris to the head from aerial fireworks, eyes are at risk from sparks and debris, and fizzing from fuses can burn hands. It's worth considering with Cat3 25m fireworks.
  • "know one told me this i learnt from experience ive made many of batches of flash powder and i have learnt the hard way ive had flash powder explode inches away from me all because the static of my fingers made the flash explode you ask any experienced pyro pro and they will tell you thats why they use anti static sprays and always wear strong gloves "

dont forget a respirator, dont want to breathe allimunium dust.

"have you ever seen how flash powder is profesionaly made??
its made with as little friction as possible thay dont stear the chemicals they gentily fold the chems into each other and the makers are wearing fire resistant cloths and very strong gloves"

yes, the diaper method some people call it: put all ingredients on peice of paper and gently fold, until it is fully mixed, then fold some more. only way i do it. using zip lock bags is idiotic in my opinion.

"so ive had some sort of trainning ive worksd with profesional displayers for 3 years i make my own shells and other fireworks im sorry but we will have to agree to disagree."

ok, just thought you were repeating somthing someone else told you.
never had it go off in my hands personally. what compsition was that?

That may be so but it isn't always practical or convenient to stake out fireworks prior to use. I always lay everything out well before the display so I can check for safety and stability of the fireworks I'am going to let off and in that case:fountains/fountain start mines and cakes with wide flat bases are usually OK sat on wooden boards, while tall ones are usually ok buried, that's how I do it and never have or have had a problem.
