Hi, been browsing about and cant find the answer to this one. I have read that if you have a child who receives DLA and they have a trust fund the government will pay in £200.
My son gets HRC DLA but doesnt have a trust fund (he is 12). Can I open one and get the £200?
Seems too good to be true but would hate him to miss out on £200 if its possible.

Looks like you won't qualify due to your son's age.....only children born after 1st September 2002 are entitled to a Child Trust Fund.0

My son is also 12 and gets DLA high rate care and mobility he is too old to get the Trust Fund its for children born after 2002 , heres what i found on their website
Introduction to the Child Trust Fund
Children living in the UK for whom Child Benefit is being received and who were born on or after 1 September 2002 are entitled to a Child Trust Fund account. You don't need to make a claim to get the account started, the Government will send you a voucher for £250 automatically.
The account can give your child a head start as a young adult. It will help your child understand personal finance and the importance of saving for their future. The account belongs to them and when they turn 18, the money is theirs to use as they think best.

My son is also 12 and on high rate care DLA....he is too old for the child trust fund.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
OK thanks everyone, the info I saw on a website was a bit misleading, so you have put me straight. Thought it sounded too good to be true tbh.0
