Christmas Cards

There are probably many cheaper ways to get Christmas Cards than going to a high street shop, but I visited some today and by far the worst for value was Clinton Cards. I can't believe I paid over a fiver in there for one card.

Sometimes its only after you leave the shop you realise what a mug you've been!

I totally agree that some of the prices for Christmas cards are ridiculous expensive. Last year I waited till the last minute before I bought mine, they ended up costing more than I wanted and not very nice either.
Last month I went to a place called the Card Factory and bought 40 cards for 1 pound so I’m quite chuffed. Good quality, 4 different motifs and got a bit of glitter on them.
However next year I’m gonna try to be a bit more prepared and have a look in the January sale and try to get an even better bargain.

I think one of the best ideas is "Gift in a jar"...There was a website posted in another thread (will try adn find it!!) and one of the gifts was Snowman Soup (Hot chocolate, some marshmallows and a small flake delicious for kids) All wrapped up in a baggie or even a little jar...enough for one lovely pot of hot chocolate on Christmas Morning! (I've added my own version here, the other one is more American with hershey chews).

You can also do Bean Soup in a Jar (Lots of layers of cheap beans from Tesco/Lidl a couple of stock cubes on the top and a few dried herbs) (Would suit any of the MILs)

Also, I saw Epsom Salts and Bicarbonate of Soda cheap in Boots...make your own bath salts with a bit of aromatherapy essence/food colouring you can make pretty layers that smell great!!! (Another good one for the granparents!!)

For your children you could do something like an IOU....
I owe you your favorite meal for a week
I owe you a trip to the cinema
I owe you a trip to the zoo
All nicely made up in little homemade gift vouchers that they can call in at anytime. Maybe do 12, for 1 a month and think of things that don't cost too much or are free?

    I hope these help?
