Hi guys!

My oap of a washing machine has finally given up today and completely broken down.

I think it might be a bearing problem as you can move the drum a lot! and it sounds like theres a brick jumping around inside!

anywho I cant really afford to buy a new one, or have it repaired really. so i had a thought, is there a chance i could claim on our contents insurance?? ive read that

''WE WILL NOT pay for; damage to any part or appliance where water or oil escapes''

Now does this mean water escapes caused by a leak? or water escapes as its a washing machine?? :o:D

we have accidental damage extension aswel.

Obviousley i'll call them in the morning but i thought id see if any clever person on this board knows!

thanks so much in advance!

No - a broken washing machine will not be covered under a contents policy unless the damage was caused by an insured peril e.g if there was a fire in the kitchen and the washing machine was damaged it would be covered, as the proximate cause of the damage was fire.
