Keyboard problems

I have a samsung netbook nc10 which has developed a fault with the keyboard.

Everytime i type some letters i also get a number with it. For example if i type l it ends up l9 if i type exposed it ends up eX-POSED. Have checked its not the num lock or anything else like that. Could it be the keyboard and if it is is it easy to get a new keyboard for it.

Thanks

Try pressing the Fn key and the Num LK keys (on my N140 it's the Ins Key). I hope this helps ?

Edit:Whoops just re-read you have not Num Lock on - sorry

check under the laptop, can you see screw holes with a "Keyboard" symbol or the letter "K"?
Sometimes with larger laptops you can undo a few screws and take the keyboard out, You can also check the cable attaching it making sure it's in place and give the keyboard a good blow and clean out...

It sounds like the key is being pressed twice - once without the Fn key held down, then once with. If you haven't changed any settings recently, I'd guess it would be a hardware issue, but...

Do you have multiple input devices configured - an xorg.conf entry whilst also using HAL?

I'm not sure what OS you're running, but there's some information about multiple key-presses in Arch Linux here, which might help:
