Wait until the RM is privatised. Then you will be screaming.0

Wow that's a big raise. I do use 1st class but usually it's 2nd. And I bet the Airmail prices take another leap too as they have been doing every year.
As for privatisation, well they can't keep raising and raising and expect us to fall into line. It can be good or bad for a company when it's privatised. Royal Mail service now does leave alot to be desired.
EDIT: just read the story. So profits have fallen by 2/3.
Shouldn't they just be grateful they are in the black at all these days? You gotta love capitalism, greed, greed, greed.0 -

And that, right there, is why revenues are falling and prices are rising.
Fewer people are sending letters, and the money made from parcels isn't enough to cover the short fall.
WE created this problem by switching to free communication such as email, so we only really have ourselves to blame.
People on these forums who claim to know better than the managers and government, but they really haven't a clue! Idealistic fantasies and cold hard reality and a world apart. If you think you are capable to running a massive corporation, and make it profitable, why are you sat here chatting on a money saving forum? However, the rise of the internet has caused a massive soar in the number of parcels being sent out. Just think of companies like Amazon and the Ebay sales alone. If you hit our local PO at the wrong time the queue is massive and the parcels are filling up the bags. There is also a problem with collection offices having massive queues at the weekends and around Christmas due to undelivered post.
So whilst letters have reduced surely the parcel/packet market must be huge. Unfortunately RM hasn't managed to capitalise on this market and is hence failing.0 -
And if you think ability is the criteria in choosing the head of the Royal Mail Group you are living in La La land. Big mate of Blair was the key. Mate of the gruesome twosome it is now.
Crozier is an arrrrse, and has had sinecure after sinecure.0 -

inflation :S0 -
It looks like the next 12 months are going to be extra tricky for online sellers.
There's also the addition of VAT from the end of January 2011, to some Royal Mail services (special delivery by 9am, Airmail with Airsure/Signed for and a few others) and also on Parcelforce, which will affect us the most.
I've mentioned this before on a similar thread, but just in case anyone wants to take notice, it seems like this, once again, would be a good opportunity to do away with second class and have one level and one payment, which would surely end up costing less in sorting.
Maybe they could introduce a standard and a business service instead, but the opportunities to make serious changes seem to always get passed on to use short term fixes..0 -

Thank you, might i suggest that you post a reminder before these changes come in as I may well overlook it and I think they are important.
