    Just find it ironic that in one post you advise clients who have concerns not to call their solicitor in case he hits you with extra charges and/or puts their file at the bottom of the pile, and in another thread you advise a concerned client to call his lawyer!

    Your clients must be very confused as to whether it's safe to ring or not!

    Putting that aside, my advice to the OP remains as in the previous thread: the solicitor works for the client so if there are doubts/concerns the client should call the solicitor.

    And if he does wack on an extra charge - contest it!

    When we completed our sale in August, it took a working week before the solicitor would pay out the money. They said they would receive it by cheque and that they would have to wait for that to clear. We then asked for a chaps transfer, and paid the money. Unfortunately the chaps did not go through till next day. It left us fairly tight for time as we were going on holiday about 12 days after the sale, and needed to move the money to our mortgage and pay some bills with it etc.
