Can anyone please please help me?
I've spent hours trying to figure this out but don't want to waste any more money ordering equipment that doesn't work with what I've got!!
I stupidly purchased a D-Link 524 wireless bundle with the router and an adapter for my pc- which I think is like a usb dongle thingy. But I've now realised i can't connect the router to the modem I have - a speedtouch 330, as it doesn't have an ethernet port! So I then bought a usb crossover adapter to connect the usb cable from the speedtouch to the ethernet port on the router- and no joy! Do I now need to buy another modem with an ethernet port? and how do I know it will be compatable with the router?
I'm soooo confused... Any advice would be gratefully received

The D-Link 524 wireless bundle would normally be used for cable and connected to the modem supplied by the cable operator. If you had an ADSL modem with an Ethernet port, you could link it to your D-Link 524 but could you not change it for an ADSL wireless router? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

You won't get the USB modem to work with the router using a crossover cable, you need a seperate ADSL modem with an ethernet port. You would be better sending the kit back if possible. or Did you buy it cos you want to connect more than one PC to the net, if so, you can still use it by setting up internet connection sharing on the PC with the USB modem and connecting wirelessly!

If the PC is going to be near the phone point, you could use a wired ethernet connection rather than wireless .. you'll still need an adsl router though.

So can you not return it in exchange for the correct type of wireless router? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
