Co-Op receipt warning

I went to my local Co-Op today, a) for convenience and b) to take advantage of some of their current great deals. However, I paid by debit card and upon checking my receipt when I arrived home I noticed my FULL debit card number printed on the front of the receipt with no attempt to obfuscate any of the 16 digits.

While I appreciate my 3-digit security code and expiry date were not printed, in the highly risky age of fraud, scams and identity fraud which we live in, surely at least 4 or 8 of the digits should have been replaced by asterisks?!

What does everyone else think?

Of course there are lots of different co-op groups, but I just looked at my receipt ( toilet rolls bogof!) and only the last 4 digits are shown.Could they have given you the receipt they are supposed to keep?Keep an eye to see if the money is debited?
my receipt has a website address on it.
  • This is 'The Co-operative Group Limited', New Century House, Manchester, Registered Number 525R, wwww.co-op.co.uk', VAT No. GB 403314604 on the receipt.

Not sure if two receipts physically come out of the till, I only ever see the one.
  • On our machine one says "customer copy" and the other "merchant copy". Check to see which you have. Unless you throw your receipts away without shredding it won't do a lot of harm.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

It says neither of those on my receipt.
