Hello
For Christmas I'm looking to buy my husband the attachments to make his xbox work online and be wireless. We have virgin broadband (not through our phone line). I don't have a clue what these atatchments are, and don't want to ask to many questions and give the game away. Anyone know what i need and good £'s?
Thanks

Is your Virgin box wireless?
Is the Xbox an older style white one and do you know if it has a hard disc on it?Dave. :wave:0 -
Hello
The xbox is white, and the router thing does plug in. I don't know what a hard disk is, how do i check this?
Thanks0 -
If the Xbox is lying flat, the disc drive will be on the left of the unit, if not it'll just be a grill.
You'll need to find out if the Virgin box is wireless or not. Do you have a loptop or other wireless device in the house that you use with the internet?Dave. :wave:0 -
Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter
One of these should work0 -
about £30-400

I can use my laptop in the house wireless.
I've had a look at some pictures on line and i think the xbox has no hard disk, but will check when i get home.
Thanks again0 -
If you connect wirelessly with the laptop, then you shouldn't need anything else on the Virgin side.
The non-hard disc versions were called Arcades, if indeed it has no hard drive. This won't stop him getting on line to play, but there won't be enough space on the memory unit for the downloadable content that'll inevitably follow, e.g. game demos, map packs, etc.
You'll need to search for the wireless adapter as Spadoosh has mentioned above. The prices can vary quite a bit.
When an on-line account is set up on the Xbox, you should get 1 months Xbox Live Gold free (assuming the Xbox hasn't been used before online). After that, you'll need to get a subscription for Xbox Live Gold, either monthly, quarterly or yearly.Dave. :wave:0 -
To tell if it has a hard drive when it's laying flat you weill see a "humped" bit on the left hand side. Thats the hard drive. Although a hard drive has no bearing on being able to connect wirelessly bar save donloaded DLC content
You need the adaptor pictured above.
Game sell them at £44 http://www.game.co.uk/Accessories/Xbox-360/Wireless-Networking-Access-Points-Xbox-Live/Xbox-360-Wireless-Network-Adapter/~r327033/?d=1z13fvhZ1z13mmvZ1z13fq5 (going rate) but you can get them pretty much anywhere that sells XBOX 360's
Or be extra lovey and buy him the new XBOX 260 slim. 250GB hard drive, Whisper quiet operation, Built in wireless so no extra adaptors plus it's £199. No overheating or malfauntion problems exist that his series has.
I traded my Elite in for my 360 slim and i love itIf Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred0 -
Thanks everyone - i'll check the hard drive tonight and then sort out which bits i need.0
