Help with IB50 and medical

Hello, I am currently on income support with a disability premium. I have an IB50 which I have to fill in and return by 15/11/10. I'm able to fill it in ok but anticipate being called for a medical.

Should I fail the medical, what will I be entitled to while I appeal? I've had differing advice: one person says I will have to go onto JSA - another says I will get ESA at an assessment rate.

Also, will my housing benefit be affected throughout this process? I am terrified of being homeless again; I have lived here for 5 years while I have battled my addictions, and it is this which scares me the most (I can happily live on £25 a week but need to feel secure in my tenancy.)

Thanks,

Carl

You can either claim a reduced rate of IS or you can make a new claim for ESA.

Five years is a very long time to be incapacitated due to an addiction. Are you not getting any help?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • I don't drink or take drugs anymore... my mental health got a lot worse once I stopped. I have Bi-polar, BPD, panic disorder and depression.
  • Today I got a letter from the DWP saying that I had scored enough points - either physical or mental - after my medical examination and that my claim will be up for review in Nov 2013 (although I anticipate something before this date).

It means that my benefit will continue in the meantime.
