anyone else try on a silly priced dress?

  • My dress was £100! It was a red bridesmaids dress! It was exactly what I wanted - tried on a £700 dress very similar to my final dress and it was amazing but sooooooo heavy! I couldn't move in it! It was also not quite the right colour - then I saw my dress and knew it was right! x
  • If you're on a bit of a budget then def look at sample sales and sites like preloved... wedding dresses are only worn for a couple of hours so a bit of a dry clean and it's as good as new x
  • I didn't tell the first dress shop I went into my budget as I just wanted to see what styles I liked on first.

I fell in love with the first dress I tried on, my Mum cried, I have real body image issues and even I thought it looked amazing! Then we found out the price - £2000! With a tight budget of £500 there was no way I could afford it!

From then on I made sure I told the shops my budget! I ended up getting my dress for £550 which was slightly over budget but it was the only other one I tried on that I loved!

My dress was just under 4k. Was the only one I liked (I wanted short sleeves and not full) and I loved it. Worth every penny IMO evne though now it just hangs in the spare room. It's an heirloom for my DD.

Your dress was so beautiful and so you, but crikey, I didn't know it cost that much!

Your shoes cost more than my dress AND shoes cost me, but they were beautiful too x

  • My budget was around £1K for the dress - which I still struggle to accept! I tried on some (I thought) quite expensive ones at about £2k, the material on them was just gorgeous!!

I ended up getting my dress which was an ex sample for £800 reduced from £2k! (in the gorgeous material) :T I went for Pronovias Naranjo (sometimes can find pics on google) and I have had the huge shakespeare-esk ruffle removed and replaced with a delicate lace edging to match the lace back. Perfect, still under budget with the alterations AND noone else will ever have the same one :D

When i was dress shopping, i tried on a dress and the lady in the shop told me it was about £1000, of course i fell in love with it and then the shop keeper actually told me it was £1290, how gutted was i  I didnt really have a budget in mind but that was to expensive, I went on and put £250 on another dress but couldnt get the expensive one out of my head. I ended up loosing the £250, i then went and bought another one on ebay with a full length veil for £250 and then i went off that one to :rotfl:so sold that without the veil for £335.
I finally found one in the very first shop i went to, they had 2 brand new samples so i got it for £650 including all alterations & they are keeping it at the shop for me so i dont have time to go off it, and im using the veil i got with the dress from ebay

Well much against everyone's advice, as they were all terrified I would fall in love and demand it, I tried on a Hollywood dreams dress http://www.thedressmarket.net/resultdetails.aspx?id=2357

It was £2500 in the shop waaaaay over budget and I could hardly fit through the door. It was very nice and very heavy but we all agreed not worth it!! It just didn't feel like the one when I put it on, some friends and family were like if it is the one you want do anything you can to get it, but I just didn't feel that way.

I found THE ONE in the end, that everyone agrees is just so perfect and so me, for £400!!!
