The Canary Islands - ebay posting location

i have just had an auction finish - the winner lives in the canary Islands..
the listing automatically generated the invoice for spain..perhaps I should have double checked, but it turns out that The canaries are European Zone 3 - which on the whole seems to be about £20 more..I thin this makes me look a bit foolish, because i have to re-invoice the guy - even though i didn't really do anything wrong, I stated that people in areas not listed please contact before bidding, i set up preferences to block any buyers not from postal destinations AND the drop down postal locations box in p&P never shows the canaries...the parcel is 47 x 32 x 18 cm and weight of about 2.6-2.8 kg packed up...whereas i could get it gone for about £16 if to SPain, this will cost about £42 by most brokers' estimated quotes...I sent him a message outlining the discrepancy (no reply yet), and offered him a lower postal rate than i 'd found at that point to try bridge the gap a little but i don't wish to be out of pocket and so will probably have to up the postage price a bit more.
Anyone any ideas as to what my next move might be - how might I get it sent more cheaply? - -I'm not sure he'll come through for this...is this a commonly exploited loophole for an unusual location? -- thanks in advance for any help you can offer

Has the buyer any history of buying from sellers outside of Spain/Canary Islands?
A buyer in the Canary Islands who has previous experience of importing 'parcel' size packages would be aware of the difference in costs for delivery compared to mainland Europe/Spain.
There's always the option to request cancellation of the transaction.... http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/cancel-transaction-process.html0 -
hi Sellercheck - they have a low feedback score (6) and this is over a period of a year...it appears that of these 6 , about 3 were from the UK, a couple from china and one from the states. unfortunately the most recent buys were private listings so no idea what they were.0

Can the item be taken apart so it could go as two parts with both under 2kg? That would be about 15 pounds for the pair with RM airmail small packet.0

cheers martin, that would be an excellent way to send something that can be broken down...as you say airmail is good value upto 2 kg. its a musical keyboard though...it has a box with lightweight packaging, but beyond that its one lump really..
my latest idea is possibly to give him another day to make contact asking whether ort not he intends to complete the sale, try to ring him if no anwer and then cancel the transaction...you can usually determine whether the sale is going to complete fairly early on i think. someone is interested in a second chance offer..where would i stand in sending a second chance offer sooner rather than in say 4 days time?0 -
the buyer came through with payment..great! ..does anyone know the cheaperst courier for sending 2.6kg (~6.8kg volumetric weight - 47x32x18cm) to Lanzarote please?0

Has the buyer paid the new invoice amount with the new postage you quoted?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
yes, they paid £42 for postage on top of the winning bid amount. i said that any savings i can make i will pass on to him..its hard without a dialogue with him...i found a service thats cheaper but its a two stage process and it could take upto 12 working days..i asked if he prefers speed or saving money but if he doesn't reply to my messages i can't be sure.
two things i noticed, your baby was due over a week ago, aren't you noticing any discomfort? ... and you are posting on here with it due - did it drop out while you were posting?

I think 42 pounds is quite good. I put the details you gave earlier into Pharos International who I would normally use for this sort of delivery and got a price of over 50 pounds. The Canary Islands are part of Spain but are duty free areas. You will be asked by the carrier to attach five or six copies of the Ebay invoice for the customs. Make sure you get this right otherwise the driver may refuse to collect it from you or it will be delayed on arrival.0

Personally i would use DHL Air EXPRESS (only 1-2 days) - only £33.99
