T&G Plastics everytime ... super service from 2 nice guys with genuine honest pricing ... used them myself & have recommended them many times over

  • Another recommendation for T&G.
  • sorry jumping in here, but i have just had a quote from focus windows, who have just quoted to do 37m on a 3 bed detached house, upvc brown, guttering, softfits, downpipes 15 year guarantee, £1770 is this good, average ? or bad for belfast?

i will be getting a quote from t&g to see what they offer, but just looking for an indication on that price.
  • Can't recommend anyone but go for the best material. Some of the cheaper stuff tends to go pink after a while. Everyone says that theirs doesn't but they would say that! swish is perhaps one of the better types but many unbranded products and cowboys about. Be wary about resonding to leaflets through doors with mobile only phone numbers. Recommendation by friends is the best way.

    Brown will definitely fade

  • yeah the sales guy tonight was talking about the quality of their product. Guaranteed not to fade for 15 years made from upvc(which is Unplasticised polyvinyl-chloride and a low maintenance material) which i thought was pretty good. I mean our house is 13 year old and the most of the downpipes are all faded pinky brown badly. The guttering is ok though which is strange,i thought that would have faded also. It was a guy at the door with a leaflet telling us of January special offer to help them boost their quiet time, free guttering and down pipe with all fascia and softfits bought. So that quote (£1770) is just for the fascia and softfit. had to book an appointment for the salesman to come quote us tonight. focuswindowsni seem legit enough. I'll see what t&g quote, guess thats the only way to know for sure.

    cheers for info though

I'm afraid its a negative from me for T&G Plastics, yes they are two nice guys but they were supposed to come back and finish my extension but never bothered. Also had problems with fittings coming loose with the weight of the snow as the screws they used were just nowhere near long enough to secure the plastic, luckily my mate was able to fix this but he shouldn't have had to if the job had been done right.

  • Well i phoned for a quote from T&G, over the phone i gave him the details, and he said anywhere from £800 to £1100. This was for the same product used as focuswindowsni but only 10 year manufacturers guarantee and their own guarantee for 2 years. Not bad at all, so i have them coming round for a more accurate quote. But i do heed what VIDO has said.
  • 5/10/20 year guarantee I would not rely on. Few of these guys will be around in a year or two. You want the right product from the start. Guarantee sounds great but these people do not want to know once the job is done. Not all products come from the same manufacturer unfortunately. Rainwater goods and soffit/barge etc boards often made by different businesses. My guttersand downspouts are fine after 18 years. The joints have gone pink.

My fascia faded after a few years but soffit is grand - it never sees sunlight. The problem often is that lead chromate (?) leaches out to bring pink tinge to surface. Cannot be washed off! However bright sunlight may bleach the pink surface whiter but not if northfacing. Anyway my northfacing fascia board is now rather dowdy and pink tinged. South facing fascia better but not the whilte it could be. Still better than having to paint or stain but annoying.

3 sides to every story & all that ... and I'm not questioning your own personal experiences but being the one to initially recommend T&G I feel I should point out that I too had an issue with a gutter that came loose shortly after fitting during some severe winds. I phoned the guys & they explained that they were busy but would get to me asap to refit the gutter. Albeit a week later they did arrive and correct the offending piece and whilst i had them i asked them to look at a leak at my parents guttering (only around the corner) which they did & proceeded to fix without taking payment as a goodwill gesture for my troubles ...
