Thinkpoint Virus + subsequent call from "Microsoft engineer"

Yesterday I was googling UK furniture web sites and suddenly computer was infected with the Thinkpoint Virus.
Spent all day removing it with use of malwarebytes on advice of a friend- it seems ok. I did not call or contact any help desks.
Then this pm got a call from Indian gentleman on bad line, number witheld, saying he s from a computer security support helpdesk telling me my computer was generating continuous error report and that it was infected with malicious spyware and I must follow his instructions and he'd help me remove it. He asked me to press various keys at which point I decided to hang up.
It seems a worrying coincidence after yesterdays problems, how can I be sure the computer is clear?
Any advice welcomed thanks

It's a scam - you did right to hang up.

unless the think point virus helps them to catch people unawares. it still a scam either way, conicidence or not.
You probably cleaned it out last time when you posted about it, and this if not a conicidence is them trying to catch you out for some money.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740
