Day trip to Cairo from Nabq Bay

I'm off to Nabq Bay in a couple of weeks.
Last year when I went I thought about going to Cairo on a day trip, flying early morning from Sharm and returning very late that same day. However I was made redundant so didn't do this.
Move forward to this year and I'm in a postion to do the day trip but wondered if anyone else had and if it really is too long and ruins the next few days.
Only going for 7 days and last year I was quite happy on the beach and did no sightseeing whatsoever, inface didn't spend any money at all.
From a few searches it looks like you can haggle the trip down to around £90 per person, for flights, transfer, tour guide all day and food.
Anyone done it?
