Samsung Tv wont turn on thanks to energy saving plug. Help!

Hi,
We bought a TV from Comet in 2008 (obviously its out of warranty now) but the TV wont turn on as we were using an energy saving plusg (from Lime, which was advertised on here). The red light just blinks nad the power blue light continues to flash. We have tried everything to get it to turn on. (Obviously we took the Lime energy plug off the TV, despite using it for about a fortnight without a problem).
Can anyone help?

This is worrying as there are many here in MSE land that use this device with Samsung TV's and other expensive equipment . Did you ask Samsung for their opinion?
I never heard of this happening to anyone using a power cutoff device.
I wonder if this is due to the standby getting it's knickers in a twist.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Samsung TVs are pretty flakey esp around that era - there is a known issue with a capacitor on the PSU board. What model is your tv?
I wouldnt be blaming the power plug thingy at the moment.0 -
power faults on samusng tvs are as common as white lines in the middle of a road, so it probably is the tv.
i work for one of the larger electrical retailers and most tv returns we get are samsungs despite them not being most of our sales.
they look very nice etc, and are good spec, but the build quality, well, lets just say its worse than very poor.0
