What can I do with old make up?

Just sorting through all of my make up and realise that it's time for a clean out. I have some stuff that's years old and need to dispose of it but I don't want to just throw it all in the rubbish to end up in a landfill site.
Does anyone know if there's anywhere that I can take the make up to be recycled or put to good use perhaps? :money:
Thanks for any ideas!

some people are funny about old makeup (I'm not)
Any friends that might want a rumage through?
Sell as a job lot on ebay? don't now if they ave rules about use by dates?
Any womens refuges or charity shops might take it? I know our local vintage shop had some mac lip gloss and eye glitter last time I was in.0 -

I don't really want to sell it or donate it to a charity shop as I wouldn't like second hand make up but was wondering if there was a special recycling centre (or something!!) that took it, otherwise it will just end up in a landfill site.
Crazy isn't it?! The recycle everything else but nowhere seems to take make up. I'm trying to be good!! :rotfl:Baby Bump born 4th March 2010! :kisses:

some packaging is recyclable but not when it's not empty....
I think re-using is as good as recycle, womens refuge might be your best bet?0 -

Unless it's unopened I'm not sure anyone would really want it...sorry OP but I'd certainly be thinking about eye infections etc...0

To be honest I wouldn’t say there is much call for recycling of make up due to the risk of infections, bacteria etc. Yes the packaging probably could be recycled but the containers would have to be completely emptied of products for it to be a possibility.
I can understand why you don’t want to just throw it away but unfortunately I think that will be your best option.

Oh well...I thought it wouldn't end up in a landfill but looks like it will. You want to do something good and end up not!Baby Bump born 4th March 2010! :kisses:
