Options
My friend had her dla renewel turned down which ended a week ago, she is also on esa and over the last year her payment has always cleared by 12pm on a sunday today there is no payment, it seems stange that this has happend for the 1st time since her dla was turned down, can anybody confirm that dla wont effect her esa?

  • I can't say for definate, but you don't have to be entitled to DLA to be entitled to claim IB, so I would imagine the same would apply with ESA.

They are totally seperate - one will not affect the other
I suggest that there may be a delay in getting the ESA paid in to her bank.......If it is not in by tomorrow evening - try the helpline !!

Well she cant ring up and see untill the morning and shes just a bit worried now.

I think she will get a slighlty reduced rate now as iirc you get a disability premium when on high rate mobility?

    EDIT

one thing i was wondering is its been around 12 months since she had thoose work focused interviews, when happens next? do they call you in for another assement at some point? i was wondering if she had recived a letter and not attended something although she says shes deffinetly not.

Someone else has reported that they have not received an expected payment - it is possible that there is a banking systems problem, if it was a general DWP one we would have had more reports.
    Gone ... or have I?

Her ESA will not go down because she does not get DLA any more They are not linked at all.
    I got my ESA today.

Does that mean that you can claim DLA whilst in receipt of ESA??

    Yes, they're completely different.

ESA is for people who are unable to work due to illness but who are not entitled to SSP

DLA is for people who have care or mobility needs due to a disability
  • Apparently there was a system error on esa's side not her bank but they have assured her the payment will arrive in her bank later today via internet banking
